New Shared Parameter Tool for Revit 2012

Alan Jackson of openRevit has reconfigured a great utility to manage your company shared parameters via excel which the original framework Alan built on top of was created by Phil Cunningham.  His toolset utilized some nice .COM interops implementing a ribbon and buttons into excel for a clean look. The app can export and with a little help from one of our IBD utilities I wrote about a while back, he is able to batch write them to a revit file.

I like the approach! Its a clean, and most importantly, quick way to batch write your company shared params to a revit family. You can download and read more about Alans utility HERE.

ASHRAE Duct Fitting Plug-in

Martin Schmidt MEP Customer Success Engineer at Autodesk has developed a very nice Mechanical Application which is currently featured in the Autodesk Labs as the Plug-in of the month! His app will allow a user to select any number of duct fittings, browse the various ASHRAE fitting lookup tables, their associated diagram, and then update all the fittings with the correct lookup table you have selected.

This is a great improvement from where we currently sit today where we have to break out our ASHRAE books or punch up the program to check what "SD4-10" means... I mean not that I don't have all 200 tables memorized or anything! The ability to have a visual identification system built directly into Revit is a great enhancement and something I spoke to Martin about back in Novemember.

It great to see Martin taking the initiative and adding his own enhancement to the factory program. I hope to see this built into the first service pack for RMEP 2012. Check it out and let me know what you think with a comment below. http://labs.autodesk.com/utilities/adn_plugins/
